In this role, you will be a member of the Biomedical Data Management team working on supporting Sage Bionetworks' data-driven initiatives. Our team serves as the coordination hub for several large, multidisciplinary research projects, and you will apply your skill as a Program Manager by overseeing the JIRA service desk, organizing project workflows, tracking metrics, and ensuring operational efficiency. You will engage with members of our research community, collaborate across teams, and help organize and operationalize data-related tasks. We are looking for a person who is a self-starter, adaptable, curious, and passionate about supporting the translation of science into medicine. Job Summary
As a Professional Scientific Program Manager, you will oversee increasingly complex life science projects under moderate supervision. We are seeking a highly motivated Program Manager with an understanding of the biomedical data lifecycle to support our biomedical data management team. The ideal candidate will have experience working as a data librarian, agile project manager, scrum master, product owner, healthcare research project manager, health informatician, or in a similar role. This role will focus on overseeing our JIRA service desk, coordinating with internal and external teams, defining and tracking project metrics, and ensuring adherence to governance protocols, all while maintaining excellent customer service and clear communication.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Coordination: Oversee data coordination tasks and ensure project milestones are met. Liaise between research teams, governance teams, and other operational departments to facilitate smooth project execution.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Engage with cross-functional teams, including biomedical data managers, engineers, internal and external researchers, and stakeholders, to ensure successful data coordination and operational efficiency. Facilitate effective communication and alignment among all parties.
  • Project Planning: Develop and implement detailed project plans using tools like JIRA to track progress, resolve issues, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strategic Vision: Support the data lifecycle strategy, ensuring alignment with Sage’s mission of Open Science and Radical Collaboration. Contribute to roadmap planning and landscape analyses.
  • Reporting: Prepare and maintain project reports and documentation, including metrics for stakeholders and progress updates. Support reporting efforts to funders and leadership teams.
  • Team Meetings: Organize and facilitate team meetings, setting agendas, running discussions, and tracking action items to ensure project goals are met.
  • Communications Plan: Develop and implement an efficient communication plan to manage the data submission process and ensure timely and effective responses through the service desk, facilitating smooth coordination and support for all stakeholders.
  • Resource Management: Work with the project team to triage and schedule data management tasks effectively, ensuring that work aligns with project milestones and is completed in a timely manner.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Liaise between external stakeholders and internal departments to manage data management-related goals, while aiming to connect and align other data management teams on shared goals and processes.
  • Risk and Priority Management: Track project risks, escalate issues as needed, and prioritize tasks to ensure timely delivery of project milestones.
  • Process Establishment: Develop and establish processes to ensure data coordination tasks are completed efficiently and in compliance with governance protocols, including creating and monitoring SLAs and metrics to track performance and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Metrics and Strategy: Implement project metrics and measurement strategies to track the success of data management initiatives, ensuring they meet expected outcomes.

We’d Love to Hear from You If You:

  • Hold a bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific/ life sciences or technical discipline.
  • Have 2+ years of experience in project management or a related area.
  • Have experience in healthcare or biomedical research
  • Enjoy coordinating projects.
  • Are proficient in project management tools and techniques (e.g., Confluence, Jira, GitHub).
  • Recognize the importance of applying critical thinking and thoughtful practices in your role and business approach, striving to ensure inclusivity, accessibility, and relevance for everyone, crafting solutions catering to diverse needs.

Preferred Skills:

  • Effective communication skills for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to write clear, detailed technical content.
  • Experience developing metrics to track project success.
  • Familiarity with agile project management practices used in healthcare and biomedical data research fields.
  • Experience with sensitive and regulated data, especially human health data.
  • Knowledge of biomedical data generation and analysis techniques.
  • Are comfortable working in Jira, Confluence, Figma, GitHub, or related tools
  • Understanding of data models a plus, not required
  • Certification in project management or agile methodologies is a plus, not required

At Sage Bionetworks, we implement equitable workplace strategies to guarantee fair compensation. Actual compensation is determined based on current market data, experience, and internal pay parity. This position is classified as a Sage Professional level, with a salary range of $81,700 - $108,265. New hires typically receive an offer between the minimum and midpoint of the range, although higher offers may be considered based on experience and market conditions.

We have a distributed workforce and support remote and/or on-site hybrid work arrangements within the United States. All interviews will be conducted virtually unless otherwise communicated.
