Our Location
Sage Bionetworks is located on the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (FHCRC) campus, in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood.Sage Bionetworks staff hold affiliate positions at FHCRC, which facilitates research collaborations and career development. South Lake Union, located just two miles south of the University of Washington campus, and one mile from downtown, has become a thriving tech center in Seattle. South Lake Union has become a focal point for biomedical research (FHCRC, University of Washington, Seattle Children’s Hospital, Zymogenetics, and Institute for Systems Biology), global health (The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Program in Appropriate Technology for Health(PATH), and Seattle BioMed) and e-commerce (Amazon). Seattle itself is also home to major information technology corporations (Microsoft, Real Networks), numerous biotech companies, pharma affiliates, as well as Boeing and Weyerhaeuser.

Seattle has a wonderful array of neighborhoods with distinct personalities offering affordable lifestyles ranging from urban high-rise apartments and townhomes near busy nightclubs and restaurants to restored homes on tree lined streets within walking distance of neighborhood bistros and coffee shops to quiet suburban and rural properties. Seattle has a vibrant arts and sports scene with museum, theatre, dance, music, film and gallery opportunities.

Bounded by Mount Rainer to the south, the San Juan Islands to the north, Lake Washington and the Cascade Mountains to the east and Puget Sound, the Olympic Mountains and the Pacific Ocean to the west, the Seattle area boasts some of the most spectacular wilderness access of any city in the US. Plentiful opportunities for boating, mountaineering, cycling, skiing and camping coupled with a mild temperate maritime climate make it ideal for outdoor enthusiasts.

Sage staff earned the first week of August as a paid vacation for meeting 2014 objectives. The one requirement – submit a picture from your week off! Many people enjoyed the outdoors and spent time with family and friends.

Demo Day

Once a month all Sage employees get together to “demo” each other on what we have been working on. This fun meeting is a great chance to learn what different teams have accomplished as well as socialize over beer and snacks!
